Swim Suit Try-on Session!

Hey friends! The unofficial arrival of summer means family trips to the beach, weekend getaways, or lounging around in your backyard pool. Here in Pittsburgh, we are moving into the “green phase” on Friday, which suspends all previous stay-at-home orders and further lifts many pandemic restrictions for businesses. I certainly welcome the hair salons back!

Whether you’re looking for a flattering one-piece or maybe a tankini top with trendy high-waist bottom, I’m sharing a few swimsuit options for your body and budget. All of the swim options I’m sharing have a modest bottom – I’m not one for the cheeky look. 😁

Let’s start off with this online exclusive from Old Navy. This darling swimsuit features smocking so it can be worn on or off the shoulders. It features removable pads and comes in two print options – blue print (reminds me of an IKAT print) and leopard print. Both options are FABULOUS! I didn’t read or see anywhere regarding the swimsuit having any type of built-in UV protection. I tried my normal size on (XS) and while I don’t think I have THAT long of a torso, I did find the the swimsuit to fit uncomfortably small. Unfortunately the Tall XS was sold out, so I’m wearing the Tall Small. It fit me much better in the torso, but the leg opening was slightly too big/loose. I think a Tall XS would have been perfect for my frame. I would recommend going with your normal Old Navy size and if you have a longer torso, consider the Tall option.

How pretty is this J Crew Factory swimsuit, complete with a one-shoulder design and oodles of ruffles. Such an eye-catching floral print. When I tried this swimsuit on, the asymmetrical neckline felt secure and in-place. I didn’t feel like I was going to have a wardrobe malfunction. While lined, I did not see any reference to the swimsuit having any UV protection. I’m wearing the Florence Floral Green option, but this color/print choice was getting limited. This swimsuit is also offered in a Blanche Floral Yellow/Blue option.

If you prefer the same style, just in a solid color, J Crew Factory does offer a one-shoulder swimsuit in navy, as well as bright cerise (which looks like an orange-red color). Love the contrasting trim along the ruffle. It is a very elegant swimsuit. I could see it paired with palazzo pants and sandals for a casual day time look as you stroll along the boardwalk.

Nobody does resort wear quite like Cabana Life, and this one-piece does not disappoint. Offering moderate coverage but still playful with the deep V-neckline, crisscrossing back straps plus a low back that curves gently for an elegant shape. The color I’m wearing has sold out, but they have 8 other fabulous color/print options. It has removable pads and under-bust elastic. This swimsuit is on the pricier side, but has 50+ UV protection and nice quality fabric.  It is seamless, has body shirring to minimize the tummy and fits bust sizes from A-DD. As for sizing, follow Cabana Life’s size chart and you should be fine. I am wearing the Small, as no XS was available. It fit me fine, except for in the chest area, which was a tab bit roomy. One thing to note: The website states the straps are adjustable – they are not. The straps are fixed.

Tankini’s are brilliant because they give you the ability to conceal any figure concerns and are a nice option for anyone chasing after kids at the beach or pool. The two below options are from Lands End, one of my go-to retailers for swimwear. Both tankini tops are part of the Draper James Lands End collaboration. Draper James is Reese Witherspoon’s brand/line. The top features a halter neckline (showcasing those shoulders) with keyhole opening for a bit of style. The straps are adjustable and includes soft bra cups. The top provides UPF 50 sun protection and a potion of every purchase from this collection supports Girls, Inc. This swimsuit top is offered in regular, petite and long.

The Lands End high-waist bikini bottoms work beautifully back to the tankini top. Love the yellow! The bottoms sit just below your natural waist and offer moderate coverage for a flattering fit. You can mix these bottoms with a variety of tops, so have fun! Another bonus, they also have a UPF 50 sun protection.

Another tankini top option from the Draper James Lands End collaboration. Love the feminime floral design. So pretty. Again, wearing the Lands End high-waist bikini bottoms which work beautifully back to the tankini top.

Swimsuit shopping is not always fun, in my opinion and can be frustrating trying to find the right fit. But, great style begins with a great fit, so it’s important to find a silhouette that works best for your gorgeous figure. And make sure you are comfortable, whether it’s more coverage or less, you need to be comfy! 😀

Did you have a favorite style? Thanks for stopping by! XO ~ Michelle
