Statement Style with a Bishop Sleeve

Hi everyone and happy Friday! Any fun plans lined up for the weekend? It’s going to be a packed filled few days for me. My sister and family are coming into town for a few days (YAY!), so we will be prom dress shopping for my sweet niece, plus my birthday is this weekend (having mixed feelings about this birthday – last one in my 40s. *gasp*). Lots of fun things ahead. But, let’s talk statement sleeves …..

Sleeves have certainly evolved over the years. We know about the bell sleeve, flounce sleeve, off-the-shoulder, and cold-shoulder trends, and these statement features will likely remain in 2019, but bishop sleeves are having a moment, as well. If you’re not familiar, the style balloons out at the lower arm and then gathers at the cuff at the wrist.

In my OOTD, I’m wearing this light weight Isaac Mizrahi sweater. With its faux wrap detail, scalloped hemline, and bishop sleeves it has some tailored touches that is perfect for work or weekend. It gives a modern, yet feminine vibe. And while the top is fitted, I find the bishop sleeves don’t overwhelm. And bonus, this top-rated sweater is currently on clearance right now at for $26 and change! Woohoo!! It comes in some other great colors, too! To complete the look, I’ve added white Kate Spade jeans and Nine West flats. My stacked bracelets are from Kinsley Armelle. If you’ve never heard of them, I encourage you to check them out. They have a great selection of bracelets, earrings and more.

I love wearing black and white clothing for Spring (and Summer). There is something about the color combination that makes it timelessly classic. But, if wearing black and white feels a bit plain to you, you can always add a bold accessory such as a bright colored shoe or handbag. And should you try a bishop sleeve top, just remember to keep the rest of your look structured. A simple silhouette is all you need to finish the look. Have a wonderful weekend everyone! XO
